Principles of Muscular Flexibility Prescription
Although genetics do play a part in body flexibility in terms of range of joint mobility such as ankles, trunk, and shoulders; the principles learned from Muscular Strength such as: mode, intensity, repetitions, and frequency of exercise can also be applied to flexibility.
- The modes of training flexibility are as follows:
- Static (slow+sustained) stretching
- Passive stretching
- Ballistic stretching
- Dynamic Stretching
- Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) stretching
