Motivation and Locus of Control
Motivation is the drive that dictates human behavior by providing direction, energy, and persistence. Many times motivation comes from outside, or external sources and trigger the desire to complete a given task, such factors control behavior.
An external Locus of Control can lead people to believe that what happens to them is a result of their environment, or is completely left up to chance. Unrelated to their behavior. People with an internal locus of control generally are healthier and have an easier time initiating and adhering to a wellness program than those who perceive that they have no control and think themselves as powerless and vulnerable.
